Dominique learned the value of hard work and giving back to our community from their family while growing up in the Midwest. A Norwalk resident for over 10 years, she proudly represents each resident in every neighborhood of the 143rd District as your State Representative. As Deputy Majority Caucus Chair and an Assistant Majority Leader, Dominique works to improve the quality of life for all of our District’s residents, delivering results with compassion and respect.

During her first term as your State Rep. Dominique is:

  • Improving early childhood literacy, creating the Early Literacy Fund so that we can get more books into the hands of children and families all over CT by:

    • Securing $1,000,000 in state funding to nonprofits that work directly with local families to increase early childhood literacy among all of CT’s toddlers up to age 5.

    • Advocating for new book gifting programs through nonprofit grants that help our littlest readers have access to a home library, some for the very first time.

    • Developing more programs for home literacy that assist parents and caregivers in reading to their children.

  • Investing in our workforce, creating the Green Jobs Corps so we have a plan and a path for bringing more clean energy jobs to our state by:

    • Developing a strategy to market green jobs to residents and recruit individuals, especially those from underrepresented communities, while creating workforce training plans aimed at supporting Connecticut’s goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

    • Supporting the creation of certificate and degree programs related to the green technology industry at technical education and career schools and in-state higher education institutions.

    • Championing the development of work-based learning programs for green jobs with workforce shortages.

  • Supporting our college students by:

    • Establishing a student loan forgiveness program that will forgive up to $20,000 in debt in exchange for volunteering at a local nonprofit.

    • Expanding debt-free community college by including returning students and giving more flexibility to students to apply for the program beyond the first 48 months of their college attendance.

    • Creating student loan subsidies for paraeducators and school counselors in our lowest-performing districts, as well as for police officers in distressed municipalities and emergency medical service personnel.

  • Fighting for education by:

    • Establishing personal financial management and financial literacy as a requirement for high school graduation.

    • Securing additional funding for our schools.

    • Enabling schools to provide more play-based learning from pre-K to grade school.

  • Cutting $600 million in state income taxes in the largest Personal Income Tax cut in CT history by:

    • Cutting marginal income tax rates.

    • Increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit.

    • Capping mill rates.

    • Eliminating even more retirement income taxes.
